2010 Annual Education & Advocacy Day is a Big Success!    Back to list

On March 9, 2010, close to 100 advocates met in Albany for the 2010 NYS Breast Cancer Network Annual Education and Advocacy Day. Mark Scherzer, attorney and health insurance advocate, gave the keynote address in which he dissected the proposed federal health insurance reform legislation and, detail by detail, explained how it would specifically affect New York State residents. His presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session. The rest of the morning was spent with updates and discussions about breast cancer-related legislation and trainings in primary prevention/environmental issues and access-to-care issues affecting the breast cancer community. In the afternoon, participants went off to meet with their elected representatives to bring our issues and concerns to their attention. Please see our photo gallery for a taste of the energy in that room!
